Peter Parker reported a problem with periodictable not properly installing during build.

I have tried this on both mac and linux and cannot get a replication of this behavior. The logs sent by Peter give no obvious clue to the problem.
Installing the package manually from the package repository worked fine for Peter. Assume this is a system specific problem unless it reappears in a reproducible way.
